I am only just beginning this diet (I'm on my 9th day), but I'm very pleased with the diet as a whole. It is truly idiot proof! I don't have time to count calories and think everything out on my own which has been part of my lack of success with other attempts. I actually stumbled on this diet after being totally disgusted with myself for having tried the NutriSystem diet which smelled like dog food and tasted like I'd expect dog food to taste (again I was looking for something that didn't take my time in figuring it all out).

The Idiot Proof Diet let me choose foods that I like and then it generates a meal plan for me with food preparations. It provides a simple motivational write-up, rules for dieting and a dieting handbook which covers what do once we've reached our goal.

I was so excited to find this because I felt hope that I could actually do it and stick with it. For me the hardest part was to stop drinking the Dr. Pepper (which I did!). For me diet drinks are not an option because they taste so icky. Also, the diet requires 10 glasses of water and walking every day.

So far I've lost 7 lbs. I can hardly believe it! And it totally encourages me to keep it up!

Latest Review of Fat Loss for Idiots: My blood pressure has dropped back into the normal range!

I'm Jennifer and I'm responding to your request for reviews of this diet. Here's my story.
I lost 40 pounds on this diet in August & September '05 and have kept it off (just lost the holiday pounds). Here are some more tangible benefits I've experienced:
1) I'm wearing clothes I've had to dig out of my 'skinny stuff' storage bins,
2) my blood pressure has dropped back into the normal range (it was about 150/92 and has now dropped to 118/78 - my doctor's thrilled),
3) I just passed out of the BMI 'obesity' range into 'overweight, and
4) I have more energy that I've had in years. The diet itself was extremely simple, it really is idiot-proof.

The only hard part is making yourself stick to it, but that's more of a mind-set problem than anything else. I'd reached the point of being absolutely fed up (pun intended) with being fat and decided I wasn't going to spend my 20's overweight. That's what kept me on this diet and ultimately what made it work for me. There are also some mental tricks I used, such as looking at the floor as I grocery shop until I come to the exact item I need (you've got to know your store, of course). And I save my eating out for my three 'off' days - I've saved at least $20/week not eating lunches out. But knowing you have that break sooner rather than later is a great mental boost.

There are other diets I like and have had moderate success on, but this is the only one I've ever found that causes significant weight loss (and the benefits that come with it) in a short period of time. But be prepared - this is not for the faint of heart. If you want this to work, get rid of the junk food in your house, be prepared to make two dinners for yourself and your family, plan to be around restrooms regularly (you've got to drink ALL the water it tells you to), and don't plan nights out on the town unless it falls on an 'off' day. And on that note, I'd highly suggest a Monday start, as this would time your 'off' days for the following Fri/Sat/Sun.

One last suggestion. The site does offer a maintenance phase, but I found it easier to switch to another diet plan for maintenance (I personally prefer the South Beach maintenance, but that's just me). And don't, DON'T, fall off the wagon for more than a week or two - you'll be okay during Christmas/New Year holidays if you get right back into it afterwords. Hope you all enjoy it and good luck!

This diet came to me via a friend who had lost 17 pounds. My age, weight and fitness level were approximately the same as hers and I decided after years of trying WW and various other diets to give it a shot. I started at 150 pounds and within 7 days had gone down to 143 pounds.

This is the best $27.00 I have spent. I started a one month ago and I went from 235 (no lie) to 212 and I am so excited. I can not believe how easy it is and I recommend it to all my friends. Another Fat Loss 4 Idiots Success Story: "I Never Once Felt Underfed"

I am currently on my 8th day in the 2nd 11 day period. as of today I have lost 15lbs overall. This is the easiest diet I have ever been on and I feel extremely comfortable with the food selections and have never once felt I was underfed or being deprived. Why High-Protein, Low-Fat, And Low-Carbohydrate Diets Suppress Hunger

Many popular diet plans are based on changing the proportion of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats one ingests as a method to promote weight loss. There has been some controversy regarding the effectiveness of these diets, but a new study accepted for publication in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism (JCEM) could shed light on potential mechanisms by which various diets promote weight loss.

This study examined the relative ability of different nutrient types to suppress ghrelin, which is secreted by the stomach and is the only known appetite-stimulating hormone. Circulating ghrelin levels increase shortly before meals and then decrease promptly after ingestion of food.

"We found that when fat is consumed, levels of ghrelin remain relatively high, which could in turn stimulate hunger," said Dr. Karen Foster-Schubert of the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington. "Protein consumption resulted in the greatest suppression of ghrelin over a long period and, interestingly, consumption of carbohydrates resulted in a strong ghrelin suppression initially, although subsequent ghrelin levels rebounded well above baseline."

I will say that when I came across this diet online I was and had pretty much given up on any hopes of loosing weight. I was just going to accept the fact that I was going to be fat the rest of my life. The name "Idiot Proof Diet" caught my attention so I read what it had to say and paid my $27.00 (Editor's Note: at the time of Sheila's review, this was the cost of the diet). The best $27.00 I've ever spent.

I started the diet on March 28, 2005 and by that Friday April 1 I had already lost 8 lbs. I really like that I don't have to measure anything, or count calories at all. I will say that time has passed I don't eat such large portions. And at times its hard to get all 4 meals in a day! Maybe the first week or so I did feel a bit light headed, but my body was missing all the bad foods, pizza, candy pop.. oh the list goes on! I have noticed that now food is not my main concern of the day, I'm not obsessed with it as I was before.

I'm not as tired, I'm sure because Ive now lost 51 lbs, don't get heart burn any more, and have had no problems with my gallbladder. And also my cholesterol has gone from 188 to 161. I agree with the 10 glasses of water a day, if I don't I feel it the next day. My skin has cleared up and wow my nails have gotten much stronger and long. That's never happened before. As you can tell I have nothing bad to say about this diet! I was wearing a size 18-20 and now I just bought size 12, its been years since I've been in that size!!!! I still have about 30 more lbs to loose, but have no doubt that I will loose it with this diet!

Fat Loss 4 Idiots Review: "I LOVE this diet!!!"

After hitting 31, losing even ONE pound became an impossible task. None of my old "tricks" worked and I just seemed to be packing on extra weight even after starving myself for days at a time.About 6 weeks ago, I hit my "scary" number on the scale, so I decided to take drastic measures. I had heard of a new diet pill that seemed to be working.

I usually NEVER opt for the pills, but at this point, I was becoming desperate. It was through my internet search for testimonials on the pills, that I ran across the Idiot Proof Diet. The diet seemed very sensible and easy to follow. It was inexpensive and balanced (I hate diets that limit my fruit intake!). Before doing anything, I ran it by a co-worker, who has an RN background. She read over it and couldn't see anything negative about it. I took the plunge and went for it!

I will admit, I was a bit skeptical about losing ANY weight by following a diet that would have me eating 4 times a day, including PASTA!! First round came and went and I was 10.5 lbs lighter!! I couldn't believe it!!! I expected to lose maybe 4 or 5, but never 10.5 lbs!!!

I was hooked from that moment on! To date, I have lost 16.5 lbs and I am halfway through my 3rd round. I had a week off due to prior engagements that I could not diet through, so that added a couple of pounds. Still, I LOVE this diet and would recommend it to anyone! I have now gotten used to planning my meals ahead of time and I am saving a ton of money by not going out to eat.

Review of Fat Loss 4 Idiots: "I Would Recommend the Diet For Anyone"

The Idiot Proof Diet worked and is working great for me. I lost 14 pounds but went on vacation and gained back some pounds since the type of travel made it hard to stay on the diet and to get my normal daily exercise or walking. I am confident that I will take the vacation pounds off quickly and continue to lose again. It is so nice to be back into clothes that I could not wear last year.

There are at least three reasons why the diet works for me. First, by planning meals carefully I find that I do not get into the constant snacking or grazing mode that is one of my weight management challenges. I know what I am going to eat and I usually know when I will be eating again. Secondly, I believe I am getting better at identifying when I am full and no longer need to eat. Third, as a function of the structure and timing of meals, I find it very easy to stay on the diet and don't feel particularly tempted to eat junk food or overeat at any particular meal. In beginning the diet I had the most difficulty figuring out when to stop eating.

I found myself overeating at times but as I got used to the diet I began to make sure that I ate slowly enough to have a 10-15 minute meal. Within the mealtime I could find myself feeling satisfied and knowing it was time to stop eating. That seemed like an important lesson for me and I intend to heed that lesson as I transition into a weight management mode again.

I would recommend the diet for anyone who could benefit from rapid weight loss, and is willing to carefully follow a program that can offer that can offer success.

"My experience with this wonderful diet began May 10, 2005. On May 7th, my husband and I took our 12 year old son to the doctor for an ear infection. Just for kicks I got on the scale - and almost fell off! I saw how much I weighed and was totally shocked. I've been overweight since having my son, but that day was the heaviest I've ever been in my entire life. The scale read 268 pounds!!!
