There was NO 13-year-old girl online: it was a fat, bald middle-aged cop pretending to be a young girl. But that was enough to fool Marc N. Greenberg, girls basketball coach at Chaminade Julienne High School in Ohio. Eventually he got so caught up in the ruse that he actually bought a plane ticket to New York (where the girl supposed lived) in order to have sex with her.The conversations became more sexually explicit as time passed “as he persistently suggested and requested that (the investigator) perform sexual acts for his own gratification,” according to an affidavit filed in federal court May 1. Last month, Greenberg told an undercover investigator posing online as a 13-year-old girl from New York that he had purchased airline tickets to fly there to meet the girl for sex, according to an affidavit filed in support of the federal obscenity charges against him.
But Greenberg never made the trip. He told the investigator his wife had discovered a credit card bill with the airline charges and asked him about it. Joey Strong, 35, of Ausable Forks, faces felony third-degree rape and misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child and first-degree unlawful dealing with a child in connection with the alleged tryst, which police said took place at a Queensbury hotel in March, according to court documents obtained by WPTZ.com.Longtime Coach Faces Teen Sex Charges [WPTZ]
School principal Jean Pulsifer told WPTZ.com that the woman had coached girls basketball as a volunteer for eight years at the school, but also said she was not an employee at the school.
Pulsifer said in a statement, "The incident for which Mrs. Strong has been accused has nothing to do with her association with holy name school. during her time as a volunteer coach no policies were broken or infringed upon." Wyvonne Walling, 45, is--or was--the girls volleyball coach at the Roanoke, Texas school until her arrest this week. According to police, officers were called to Fairplay Park following a report of a suspicious pick-up truck. When officers approached the vehicle, they found Walling performing a sex act on the aptly named Barry Luckie, also 45, the manager of the local Kroger store. (Not sure why that is relevant, but if the police took time to put it in their report, it must be significant or could help sausages sales at the store.) The happy couple each posted $1,000 bail and were released. The police report doesn't say if the couple was able to complete the lewd act or not, but likely their arrest ruined the mood.
According to a school district spokesperson, despite her arrest Walling is still under contract. In addition to per coaching duties (and early morning servicing of grocery store managers) Walling is also the interim girl’s athletic director, head of the physical education department, assistant track coach and teaches also finds time to teach a TEEN leadership class. This time though, the accused is a female coach & teacher, Jennifer Lea Burton, a rather attractive woman at 39 (no mug shot yet, but this must be a school picture of some kind). She, of course, should have know better, but authorities say she had an "inappropriate relationship" with a 14-year-old girl. At first, Burton was put on administrative leave for two weeks when the allegations surfaced, but has since resigned since the local grand jury handed down the indictment. The former coach faces three counts of felony sexual assault and three counts of felony improper relationship between an educator and student. And, apparently, this was not a one time incident as reports say the relationship took place between September 2008 through November 2008.
If convicted, Burton could get from two years probation to 20 years in prison and a fine of $10,000 for each count. (KFDM)

We immediately thought he looked like Otto, the autopilot from the movie Airplane! Or maybe Flounder from Animal House? Either way, he's creepy us out.
Everyone in Bloomington, Minnesota however, must have thought he was a nice guy, because they let him coach 8 and 10-year-old girls floor hockey and softball teams. One lady even let him babysit her girls . . . for years! Everything seemed fine until Randy Lee Ronning was spotted touching one of the girls in an inappropriate manner while the family stayed at a Days Inn. The cops were called and the children were taken to a local hospital where they were examined. It was there that one of the kids told police that Ronning had assaulted her several times over the PAST SEVEN YEARS when he took care of them while their mother was away. Cops did some digging on Ronning and also found out that he was a volunteer coach. And here's where the lawsuits will start: apparently the Bloomington Athletic Association does not do background checks on coaches, mostly because the majority of its volunteers are parents . . . except for Ronning who had previously been convicted of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct back in 1992. Yeah, neither do we, but apparently she scored more than 1000 points while she was there. And, likely, she did a lot more scoring away from the gym as well.
Cops in Pinal County, Arizona have arrested the Apache Junction High School freshman girls basketball and softball coach in connection with what is being called an "inappropriate relationship." The victim in this case is not a male student but one of her own 16-year-old players.
According to reports, Jewell, 25, was first arrested on suspicion of sexual conduct with a minor back on March 29, three days after cops received a report from the victim's mother about some "suspicious text messages" being exchanged between her daughter and Jewell. Uh, oh.
While investigating that complaint, authorities discovered that there was, in fact, something going on between these two and obtained evidence that Jewell reportedly sent the girl inappropriate images (let your imagination go with that thought for a second) via text messaging on her cell phone. Yeah, they confiscated her cell for that one.

Well, not only did this guy keep digging, he called in a back hoe and really dug a big one. Here's the story as I understand it:Back in 2007, James H. Clay, a coach at the Troy Christian schools (Ohio) was accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl. Within several days of that arrest, someone broke into Clay's home and started a fire. The coach and his two small children managed to escape, only to find that Clay's car had been spray-painted with the words "guilty," "leave" and a racial epithet. Not surprisingly, local and national groups sprung to Clay's defense for this hate crime.Eventually Clay was convicted of sexual battery and is serving 5 years in prison. Now, however, after a lengthy police investigation, he has also been indicted by a grand jury for aggravated arson. The economy REALLY must be tanking if the working girls are seeing their pay cut that much. But, once again, someone is likely to comment below about how this shows that we need to pay our teachers more.
Here's more from News4Jax:Marc Osterberger, 38, worked at Nease High School during the girls' soccer season that ended two months ago. Head of human resources Jim Springfield told Channel 4 that Osterberger came highly recommended from a soccer club, and in October of last year, the St. Johns County School District hired Osterberger as a part-time employee to coach the Nease team.
"The references from that organization were very high. He was rated in the top 5 percent of all applicants," Springfield said. Osterberger was only meant to work with the district through January. In February, however, he got into some trouble with
the law.
According to a police report, Jacksonville police caught Osterberger in an undercover prostitution sting in the 7900 block of 103rd Street. The report states Osterberger wanted an undercover officer to perform sex for $20 cash. The report also states, Osterberger exposed himself to the officer.

The good news? The last two were arrested on felony charges, Sainsbury has only been hit with a misdemeanor . . . so far.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, Sainsbury bought the teen gifts, including a cell phone, to encourage the girl to continue the relationship. Instead of being in school, a Ponte Vedra High School employee was in court on Tuesday after being arrested and accused of using the Internet to solicit sex from a 16-year-old boy. Investigators tracked William Turner Online for several weeks after police received a tip from an out-of-state law enforcement agency that the 46-year-old man might be trying to contact underage boys.
Earlier this month, police were notified that Turner had contacted a teenage boy on the Internet and e-mailed the teen pictures of male genitalia. A cyber-crime investigator located the boy and his parents and was given permission to take over the boy's Yahoo account. Officials said Turner sent another e-mail offering to meet the teen for a sexual encounter on Monday morning at the McDonald's on Emerson Street. When Turner arrived, police were there to arrest him.
"I couldn't even express how disappointed I was," said Ponte Vedra High School Principal Craig Speziale. "I'm angry. I'm angry that this has happened. I'm angry for everyone associated with this school. It casts a dark cloud."Labels: high school coach sex scandal

He said they exchanged phone numbers and began having a relationship, and that "in December of 2008, Ross took the victim to a motel in Glendale, provided alcohol and engaged her sexually over a period of time." Riley was scheduled to make his first appearance today in Lamar County Justice Court.

Cole said Brown has been a "community coach" with the boys' varsity basketball team since 2007, and he sometimes helps out with the junior varsity basketball team. According to a Lake County Sheriff's Office report, the girl told investigators she and the coach had been having sex for more than a year. Here's more from OC Register:An intramural sports coach appeared in court Friday on charges that he molested four boys, ages 11 to 13, after befriending their families and spending time alone with the victims, prosecutors said. Cameron Joseph Baca, 27, of San Clemente, requested that his arraignment be delayed until Jan. 9, said Susan Schroeder, a spokeswoman for the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
Baca was arrested Wednesday and is being held on $1 million bail. He has also requested a bail hearing on Jan. 9, Schroeder said. Just weeks ago he lead his undefeated Walpole Rebels to a 41-21 victory over Mansfield Hornets to win the Division 2 Super Bowl for the first time in 11 years. He was also named “Coach of the Year” on the “Patriots All Access” show. But then a parent stepped forward with evidence of a the relationship with a female student after discovering "inappropriate" text messages from Villa on their daughter on her cell phone. They contacted Superintendent Lincoln Lynch when then immediately put Villa on paid administrative leave last week called him in for a meeting, just before Christmas. When confronted with the allegations, Villa resigned all three of the positions he at Walpole High School. But then, an odd thing happened: Villa took off to Arizona for Christmas, leaving behind his wife and children. Eventually the cops were able to locate him at his parents home there and it looks like Villa will wave extradition back to Massachusetts to face the charges that include three counts of rape of a child over 14 and three counts of enticing a minor. Here's the full story from the LA Times:An athletic trainer at Tustin High School has been arrested on suspicion of engaging in unlawful sex acts with a student at the school, an Orange County sheriff's spokesman said Wednesday. Hope Jacoby, 23, who has worked with athletes at the school for the last year, was arrested last week on suspicion of oral copulation of a minor and unlawful sex with a minor, said Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino.
Sheriff's deputies were informed of the unlawful acts by someone who saw a text message photograph, Amormino said. The boy was between 14 and 17 years old. Jacoby, who lives in San Juan Capistrano, was jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail, Amormino said. Investigators believe there may have been other victims, he said.

The coach meets up with a young woman or young man at school, they flirt for a while and then have sex somewhere (usually a parked car) and get caught. This latest case (#195 for the year for those of you keeping score at home) is a bit different. According to police Doug Hunt, 51, and elementary school art teacher who coaches high school soccer in Jefferson County (WV)has been arrested after office say they caught him paying for sex with two fictitious girls.
Hunt allegedly responded to an online ad, allegedly placed by a desperate mother who had two underage daughters she was willing to pimp out to the highest bidder. The ad was actually placed by an undercover office, and read "38 female, and two daughters (HS) looking for fun times, willing 2 please, me - red hair, petite, my gurls r gorgous. one blond & one red hair, tough times for a single mom out of work, donations gratefully taken." Hmm, sounds fishy, but apparently not fishy enough for Hunt who, according to the affidavit, responded to that ad with: "Hi, I just read your post on CL and am very interested in getting together. I will definitely help with a generous donation. Do you have any pics? What kind of things are you into? I am pretty open, but must be discrete as I am married. Hope to hear soon, Doug."
At that point, the surprised detective responded: "hi, which one or both 12 or 13?"
At that point, Hunt replied with what will become a BadJocks Classic Phrase: "I AM NOT GOOD WITH CHOICES, LOL, HOW ABOUT ALL OF THE ABOVE." (Caps in original response.)And to top things off, Coach Hunt actually used a phone at Shepherdstown Elementary to arrange a meeting with the mother and her "daughters" at nearby hotel.
The encounter between "mother" and Hunt is described in the arrest affidavit as follows:He approached Detective Kara and they introduced themselves to each other. Detective Kara asked Doug if he brought condoms with him. He stated that he did not. Detective Kara told Doug that it was okay, there were condoms in the hotel room and the girls knew where they were, just to ask them for some when he entered the room. Doug agreed and stated that he would use them. Detective Kara reminded Doug that he was not allowed to have sexual intercourse with the 12-year-old female because she was still a virgin. He was informed that he was only supposed to "mess around with her." She also informed him that he could have sexual intercourse with the "older one". Doug again agreed to this stipulation. Detective Kara stated that she was going out to have dinner and that she would be back in approximately one hour at which time she would knock on the door to the hotel room. Detective Kara asked Doug,: "Are you still cool with $200.00 for both of them?" Doug said:"Yes." He then gave Detective Kara $220.00 in cash. Detective Kara gave Doug a hotel key and told him which room the fictitious girls were located in. ¶ 7:38 AM 0 Comments Links to this postTuesday, December 16, 2008Girls HS Basketball Coach Resigns: Sent "Inappropriate" Text Message to Entire TeamScott Zollinger, 45, has compiled a 137-86 record in 10 full seasons coaching the Lancaster High School (Ohio) girls basketball team while earning about $70,000 annually for his coaching and teaching duties. A gifted coach, Zollinger apparently was technically challenged, and like a lot of us over 40, should not have been texting. Zollinger is accused of sending an "inappropriate" text message to team members, one that was intended for a former student/player who has since graduated. (That's still creepy, but at least he waited until she was out of school.) According to police, the text message was sent to a "hot … mama" and read: "Didn't c any tan lines in that pic. U were layin out on the nude beach weren't u! Have a great day. Iluvmshhh." As a result, the district investigated and Zollinger has--not surprisingly--resigned. And, it seems, the parents of the girl it was intended for are also not happy. Anybody happy here? (Thanks to David S. for the link!)
Here's more from the Columbus Dispatch:The school district has finished its investigation of Zollinger and forwarded its materials to the Fairfield County prosecutor's office, Callihan said. The district's investigation indicated that the text message apparently was intended for a woman who formerly played on Zollinger's team, but since had graduated. When asked about the player, Zollinger told investigators that a "relationship had been established in the summer after graduation, but it was discussed with the (woman's) parents and the parents stated that it was unacceptable." The former student's parents said that after learning that their daughter had gone to Zollinger's home, they met with him to voice their objections. This latest educator in trouble is a gym teacher from Brentsville High School in Nokesville, Va.. Here's more from NBC Washington:
A Prince William County gym teacher was arrested after two 16-year-old girls said they were sexually abused by him.
Anthony Haywood, 27, is a physical education teacher at Brentsville High School in Nokesville, Va. The students accused Haywood of having inappropriate contact with them after school hours. The alleged incidents took place at his house and did not take place on school grounds, officials said.
Police said one of the students reported the alleged abuse to a school resource officer.
"We became aware of the allegations and worked with police to investigate them," said Ken Blackston, spokesperson for Prince William County Schools. "Once it became clear that possible criminal actions took place, we turned the investigation over to police. Finally, my complaint, for the catagory of High School Coach Sex Scandals, as a high teacher I dont think it is fair to include any coach, in a catagory for High School Coaches. For example, # 186, 189, and 190, are NOT employed by a school.
Just my suggestion.

You are correct. Some of the coaches listed as part of our "High School Coach Sex Scandals" are not actually employeed by school districts but we lump them all together for the sake of brevity. There is no way we can keep track of Middle School Coach Sex Scandals, Private Tutor Sex Scandals, and Guys Who Volunteer to Coach Sex Scandals . . . but we get your point.

Still, to let your head boys basketball coach go, but almost as soon as you name his assistant to take his place, THAT coach gets busted as well? It could only happen at a Model High School. Two former Model High School coaches arrested Thursday on sexual assault charges were released from the Floyd County Jail on Friday afternoon. Daniel Brown, 30, and Matthew Blanton, 28, were released after both posted $7,350 bail. They are accused of being involved in inappropriate teacher-student relationships.
Brown and Blanton were both arrested on felony sexual assault charges, said Floyd County Police Sgt. Teri Davis. Police investigating Blanton and Brown’s cases reported that the unidentified female students involved are ages 16 and 17.
According to documents at the Floyd County Jail, Blanton is accused of kissing and fondling a student on school property, while Brown is accused of having a sexual relationship with a Model student.
