Monday, January 12, 2009UK Rugby Team Captain Accused of Biting Man's Ear Off in Bar FightYou gotta love the attitude of rugby players: they play hard on and off the field. Take Matt Payne, 28, captain of the Henley Hawks rugby team, who was already serving a three-week ban for allegedly head-butting an opponent during an early December game, when he allegedly got into a bar fight a few weeks back. Cops were called to to a disturbance at the White Lotus Sports Bar in the early morning hours of December 21. When the dust cleared, Payne was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm, and another bar patron was missing an ear.
The best part of this story: despite the head-butting incident and the ear biting incident Payne is still captain of the Hawks and that, according to team officials, is not likely to change! (Henley Standard)Labels: bar fight, rugby fans
