Monday, April 06, 2009Coach, Accused of Sex With Girl, Burns Down Own House in Fake Hate Crime You know how when you're deep in a hole they tell you to stop digging? Well, not only did this guy keep digging, he called in a back hoe and really dug a big one. Here's the story as I understand it:Back in 2007, James H. Clay, a coach at the Troy Christian schools (Ohio) was accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl. Within several days of that arrest, someone broke into Clay's home and started a fire. The coach and his two small children managed to escape, only to find that Clay's car had been spray-painted with the words "guilty," "leave" and a racial epithet. Not surprisingly, local and national groups sprung to Clay's defense for this hate crime.Eventually Clay was convicted of sexual battery and is serving 5 years in prison. Now, however, after a lengthy police investigation, he has also been indicted by a grand jury for aggravated arson.
