Thursday, January 29, 2009Houston Coach Tom Penders: ESPN "Doctored" Footage of Aubrey Coleman's Stomp Just when you thought the whole Aubrey Coleman stomping on Chase Budinger's face was about over. Sure, the University of Houston wimped out and didn't do anything to discipline Coleman for this "accident" but now basketball coach Tom "See No Evil" Penders thinks ESPN doctored the footage of the incident.
No, really.
Here's the quote from Rivals.com:"Yeah, I saw it. I thought it was a real -- they doctored it up. They put this X-ray vision thing in to make it look like Aubrey [Coleman] was looking down, which painted a very poor picture of what actually happened. You have replays from the game where they went through the entire sequence and slow motion and everything else and Aubrey's eyes never look anything but straight ahead and up to the ceiling when the officials give him the charge signal. ESPN made it look like he was looking down. I thought it was a total distortion."For those of you who missed it the first 1000 times ESPN showed it, here it is again. Please note: watch how many "normal" steps Coleman takes before lifting his foot high enough to get above Budinger's face and step down on it. If it was truly accidental, wouldn't his right foot have bumped into Budinger, making him trip? And if Coleman did see him well enough to have lifted the foot, why not just stop and/or make the effort to clear him? This is such a playground move. "Was that your face?"
