Being Drunk & Breaking Into an Equipment Room News: HS Baseball Player Arrested With Weed in Car HS Gym Teacher Accused of Hitting Student Resigns - A female student claims that coach Michael Dumas hit her on the side of the head after another student "playfully smacked Dumas on his backside." Dumas! HS Sports Hazing Update: Judge Finds Teen Guilty in Sex-Related Locker Room Incident - Right of passage, you say? Harmless team tradition? Tell it to the judge. In this case, a juvenile court judge in Utah who decided that the 16-year-old football player--who allegedly touched his genitals or buttocks to the faces of younger players who were held down by two other team members--is guilty of forcible sexual abuse and attempted forcible sodomy, both first degree felonies. This decision stems from a 2007 hazing incident at East High School in Salt Lake City. Unfortunately, this does not appear to have been an isolated incident in this trouble kid's life: he's also charged with asking two boys, ages 8 and 11, he was baby-sitting to perform sex acts on him. According to court documents, when the boys wisely refused, the defendant then held a gun to their heads and told them to clean the house. (SL Tribune) #64! Finalist for HS Coach Sex Scandal of the Year? Thanks for the Memories and the STD, Coach! The coach of traveling softball team was arrested this week for allegedly having sex with player, 17. The case broke open--literally, we think--when the girl's doctor informed her she had a sexually transmitted disease and she thought she may have gotten it from her coach. No way, he reportedly told her, I regularly get tested for that and I'm clean! That should make the parents of the other players on the team feel better. (Sign on San Diego) #63! A Flashback to a 2007 HS Coach Sex Scandal - We'll count this one a second time because, well, we can do whatever we want and because this former coach was re-arrested this week because he continued to have contact with the victim, a juvenile female who was one of his players when he coached basketball at a middle school. He finished #4 on our list of 2007 HS Coach Sex Scandals. (Thanks to TS for the update!) HS Hockey Coach Fired After Publication With Player Bios is Published With "Offensive Material" - Kevin Brown will NOT be coaching the boy's hockey team at Lockview High School next season after parents got their hands an the annual team program which contained some player bios that were considered "sexist and homophobic." Examples from the bios include one making a crude reference to a player's desire to "visit pop singer Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch," while another says a team member will "drop his pants for a quick buck." Still another claims he enjoys “some meat between his buns," while another’s says he likes hunting and fishing and warns women that he shares his bed with a huge weapon. It's not clear who wrote the bios, but apparently Brown either did not review the material before it was published or let it go, but either way, the principal let him go this week. (Nova Scotia News) You're Not Doing It Right: Boy, 14, Knocked Out Cold During Whiffle Ball Game at Snooty Prep School - The McCallie School, founded in 1905, in Chattanooga is recognized as one of the nation's top college preparatory schools. In it's mission statement, McCallie says it believes that "students should become independent thinkers, learning to set and achieve goals and developing a variety of strategies to solve problems." Apparently their idea of creative problem solving includes settling a dispute over a dorm whiffle ball game with the use of fisticuffs. According to police, the game (played with a plastic bat and ball) turned into a verbal argument at the prep school, and that turned into a punch to the head that allegedly knocked out a 14-year-old student. The boy was injured seriously enough to be transported to a local hospital. According to one report, Upper School Head Kenny Sholl cautioned the boys that "even minor scuffles can result in serious injuries, and emphasized the importance of resolving differences in appropriate ways." Now THAT'S advice worth $34,000 a year! (Chattanoogan) Wesley College Golf Coach Arrested for Incident in Country Club Parking Lot That Ended With Him Being Chased on Foot, Tackled by Cops - No one seems really sure what started all of this, but it ended with a normally mild-mannered college golf coach being tackled by cops as he tried to flee an incident in the parking lot of the Maple Dale Country Club in Delaware. According to cops, the were called to Maple Dale over some kind of parking lot incident and found Rick McCall, 67, a golf pro and coach at Wesley College, in his car trying to leave. Officers asked him to stay in his car while they talked to a witness, but instead McCall allegedly started revving his engine. (That's never a good sign.) Of course, the officer then asked McCall to get out of the car, but instead he made the car lunge at the officer (strike two!) McCall then allegedly took off with the officer’s arm still in the vehicle! Eventually cops got the car stopped, but McCall made one last attempt at freedom by running away, but was tackled by officers a short distance away. The coach now faces charges of felony reckless endangering, felony second-degree assault, resisting arrest, offensive touching, disorderly conduct and reckless driving. (Delaware Online) Star HS Basketball Player, Arrested on Gun and Drug Charges, Allowed to Play in Playoff Game, Hits Winning Basket as Time Expires - It's the feel good story of March Madness! Josh Wiltz, a senior starter on the Lafayette High School (LA) boys basketball team, was arrested more than a week ago for illegal use of weapons, possession of marijuana, illegal use of a controlled drug and illegal carrying of a weapon. Not too bad, huh? The coach must have thought so, because Wiltz was allowed to play in the Class 5A state quarterfinal game against Destrehan over the weekend and--SURPRISE!--he not only played, but he hit the winning basket as time expired. In the mean time, the coach and school say it's best to keep the incident--which happened away from school grounds so it's cool--separate from the efforts of the team and just let the legal system (which will likely not act until after the playoffs are over) handle this one. No harm, no foul, right? (Daily Advertiser) Thanks Dad! Father Allegedly Assaults Girl's HS Basketball Coach After Daughter Doesn't Start in Team's Playoff Victory - Some people are just never happy. Take Jeffrey Abbott, 42, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma whose daughter Lauren, is a senior on the Preston High School girls' b-ball team. Last Thursday night, Preston won its first round playoff game over Crowder 76-46, but Lauren didn't start. She played, but she didn't start. Apparently her dad didn't care for that coaching choice and not only told Preston coach Mickey Duncan after the game while everyone was celebrating. In fact, according to police, Mr. Abbott helped Duncan celebrate by putting his hands around the coach's throat and slamming him to the ground. The coach was not seriously injured (he suffered a dislocated elbow) and Abbott was arrested on a misdemeanor assault and battery charges. (Tulsa World) BadJocks Classic! HS Basketball Coach Arrested While Driving Players Home From Game: Charges Include Speeding, Driving on a Suspended License and . . . Two Outstanding Warrants for Embezzlement? - And the best part? His lawyer is also the president of the Bad Axe, Michigan school board and thinks representing JV basketball coach David M. Williams, 24 isn't a conflict of interest at all! This all started when Coach Williams--according to police--was going a little to fast near the local McDonalds on his way home from a game with a couple of players in the car. A quick computer search showed that Williams was driving on a suspended driver’s license and had two outstanding warrants from February 2007 in nearby Saginaw County for embezzlement. According to court documents, the coach was charged for embezzlement of more than $200 but less than $1,000 AND embezzlement of less than $200 but failed to report to court to be arraigned on the charges.
