Apparently ADD Runs Rampant in Baseball, With More Than 100 Taking Ritalin - All that scratching, spitting, and wild hand gestures on the baseball field apparently is the result of nervous energy caused by Attention Deficit Disorder, or ADD, the disease most commonly associated with hyperactive kids. Or could it be that pro ballplayers are using the drug Ritalin to help them focus on the field? (My Fox NY)

BadJocks Update: TV Movie to be Made About Naughty Texas Cheerleaders - No, so far we have not been asked to be a script consultant on the Lifetime Channel movie about the infamous McKinney North High School (Texas) cheerleaders, but we're expecting a call any day now. According to reports, the Lifetime Channel is making a movie called "Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal," based on the true story of five "out-of-control teenage girls", a story we have been covering for more than a year. Among the interesting casting choices is former child star Tatum O'Neal, who will play Principal Lorene Tippit, whose daughter Brooke was considered the ring leader of the group. The movie will premiere on Lifetime this summer and then be show repeatedly forever. (Reuters)

Our Favorite Slutty Middle School Gym Teacher, Pamela Rogers, is Back in the News: Parole Officer Denies Request for Early Release in Hearing Today, But New Brunette Hair Color Wins Raves From Fans, Bloggers - Over the past three years, BadJocks has had the privilege of covering the ongoing antics of the lovely and talented Pamela Rogers, from her initial arrest almost exactly three years ago on charges she had sex with a then 13-year-old middle school boy. In the summer of 2005 she was sentenced to a mere 9 months in jail when she could have gotten 16 years. And then to her release in the spring of 2006 and her subsequent re-arrest for violating her probation by contacting the victim in this case, sending him sexy cell phone videos (of which we posted the first one) and her MySpace page (which we downloaded and posted before it was pulled) both of which were clearly aimed at the boy. The judge did not give poor Pamela a slap on the wrist this time and she went back to jail for 8 years. That is, with the chance for parole starting in 2008 and today Pamela Rogers had her first hearing before a parole officer to plead her case that she has now gotten the help she needed to stay away from hot underage boys and should be released to rejoin her supportive family. Unfortunately, the parole officer was not swayed and recommended to the parole board that Rogers not be released at this time and that her next chance for parole would not be--gasp!--until 2014, when the former Ms. Monday Nitro would be 35 years old. On the plus side, Pam looks very fit and healthy and is letting her hair return to what we believe is her natural brunette coloring, seen in the picture at right. First Sports Streaker of 2008! Man's "Buck Naked" Run at Race Track Scares Horses, Causes Race to Be Canceled - An Australian man is in jail this morning after disrupting a horse race at the Moruya racetrack and literally scaring the horses so much that officials had to void the results of the race. According to the Daily Telegraph, the 31-year-old and 26 of his mates were celebrating his "buck's day" (commonly called a stag or bachelor party here in the States) and after a few adult beverages, he was convinced to strip to his underwear, don a wig, and dash out onto the track, just as the horses were coming to the finish line. And yes, he was arrested. His bride must be so proud this morning! Hope he didn't miss the ceremony. Soccer Player in Malaysia Arrested for Threatening to Post Nude Pictures of Girlfriend Online - This, of course, happened after her parents forced them to break up because he wasn't good enough for her. So, he did what any spurned young man would do: he tried to blackmail her into loving him again by threatening to circulate naked pictures of her. She, of course, went straight to the cops and filed a police report saying that the pictures were taken when she was forcibly stripped and raped . . . which wasn't true. Cops realized that when the soccer player showed her in many other, uh, compromising positions that clearly showed she was enjoying the event. Anyway, now he's in jail and the naked pictures are likely gone, or on some Malaysian cops phone. (The Star)

Told League Was Folding Mid-Season, Drunken Minor League Hockey Players Trash Historic Building They Thought Was Owned by Same Guy That Ran Team - It's a classic case of drunken mistaken identity. Like that time you asked that tall girl to dance at the bar and all you friends new that she was a really a guy, but you were too drunk to notice? Well, image if you played minor league hockey for the Jamestown Vikings of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League and after weeks of not getting paid, you found out the league was folding before the season ended. What to do? Well, first you get drunk and then you look for a way to get revenge on the team owner who owes you all that money. Hey, why not trash that old building he owns downtown called the Viking Lodge? That's the ticket! A group of Vikings drunkenly pillaging the local town; classic and almost historically accurate. Except for one thing. The historic Viking Lodge IS NOT OWNED by the same guy who owns the hockey team and the cops showed up and arrested every passed out player. Oops. The High Cost of Hazing: Family of HS Football Player Victimized Want $1 Million From Town - In the summer of 2006, a football player for Fairhaven High School (Massachusetts) was reportedly physically and sexually assaulted by older members of the football time while at Camp Wishbone. And by the way, they videotaped the crime as well. Eventually four members of the team charged with hazing and assault, but not before the entire town turned against the victim and his family for reporting the incident. Now the family has informed the town of Fairhaven that it wants $1 million in compensation and if it does not respond to the demand within six months, they will file a civil complaint against the town. So, they haven't filed a lawsuit yet, they are just asking nicely for the money. Seems very civil, doesn't it? A letter sent by the family's attorney to the town claims the hazing incident at Camp Wishbone was not an isolated occurrence, but rather it was part of a "culture of ongoing criminal hazing" by Fairhaven football players, and specifically that "It was common knowledge that, in prior years, football player students were required to stand naked in wash tubs while other team members urinated on them." #48! HS Basketball Coach Arrested for Having Sex With Girl, 17, While They Watched the Movie "Knocked Up" at His Parents House - You just can't make this crap up, can you? John M. Jagla, 24, a volunteer basketball coach at Hamilton High School in Lisbon, WI was charged with the sexually assaulting a 17-year-old female student he met at a summer basketball camp. According to the victim, the two exchanged text messages and then Jagla touched her inappropriately while they were at his parents house watching the movie "Knocked Up." (Journal Sentinel)

"Board" With Soccer? Brawl Finally Makes "Football" Interesting for American Fans as Player Brings Own Lumber to Game - It's the soccer breakthrough American fans have been waiting for! Can't keep up with that really fast guy from the other team? Hit him in the knee with a 2 by 4! So simple, why didn't someone think about it before? Actually, there might be some rule against it, at least in the UK where a brawl broke out within the first five minutes of a game between Heywood St James and Salford Victoria in the "Bridgewater Office Supplies Football League." Fists started flying for no apparent reason and despite the referee's best efforts the brawl got more out of control, especially after this nut job brought his own lumber to the fight. In the end, the injuries were pretty minor, except for a trainer who was hit in the face by a flying chair. Game on! (Daily Mail - link includes several great pics)

Two "Tasered by Cops" Incidents! - We were beginning to get a little worried about this category on our scoreboard. It was new in 2007, but we recorded 8 instances where athletes were shocked by cops using tasers. But now, nearly 6 weeks into 2008, we had zero for the year and getting concerned . . . but we should have known better. Surprisingly, alcohol was involved in both incidents.
1) Fox Sports Broadcaster, and Older Brother of USC Quarterback John David Booty, Arrested for DUI, Gets Tasered During Booking Process - We think the mug shot says it all, don't you? Josh Booty, 32, an announcer for Fox Sports, was reportedly picked up by the California Highway Patrol for alleged drunk driving early Wednesday morning. That went fine, but apparently there was some dispute at the Orange County Jail and before you know it, cops there had to Taser the elder Booty brother. It was at that time that officers say he, uh, "slipped" and hit his face on a table which caused the black eye. (MyFox LA)
2) Drunk HS Student Tasered by Cops After Basketball Game - If you're going to get drunk during a HS basketball game and then heckle the opposing players outside the gym afterwards, best to take off when the coaches ask you to leave and not wait until the cops show up. Because when you try to run from them, frequently they will taser you. Case in point, Ryan Matthew McNabb, 16 a student at Sweet Home High School (Oregon) who was allegedly being verbally abusing to players from rival Philomath High School after a home game. Philomath coaches tried to get him to leave, but reportedly he cursed and spat on them and got into a little shoving match. That's when the local law was called and while McNabb tried to flee, he didn't get far as Barney Fife pulled out his trusty taser and dropped the lad to the ground, ending what was otherwise probably one of the best nights of the young man's life.
