HS Wrestling Sexual Assault Update: Trial of Former Star Begins, as Teammates Tell of Hazing at Camp and Frequently Having Their "Oil Checked" - Back in December we told you the story of South Dakota HS wrestler who stood accused of multiple counts of rape . . . only it wasn't what you might first thing. According to prosecutors, Jermone Hunt didn't sexually assault any of the young ladies at Parker High School, instead he's accused of sticking his finger into the rectums of his teammates. Repeatedly! A technique that he reportedly called "checking the oil." His trial in juvenile court is starting and the prosecution has already dropped a bombshell: apparently the allegations go beyond initial reports and started last summer when the wrestling team attended a camp together at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and stayed in the dorms. They contend that Mr. Hunt's reign of terror over his teammates started with hazing at that camp that included:
- Throwing or smashing eggs on multiple teammates.
- Smashing ground beef onto a boy's head as he got out of the shower.
- Locking a boy in his dorm room, threatening him, and forcing him to eat a "meat product."
- Urinating in Gatorade bottle and putting it back in the refrigerator.
- Defecating in someone's dresser drawer.

Back at school, one victim claimed that Hunt touched him in a way he didn't like more than 20 times during the wrestling season and that he kicked and screamed each time it happened, and Hunt said not to tell anyone or he'll do it even worse. The trial continues today. (KELOland)

to06xf90.jpg (122801 bytes)Pictures Posted of Athletes Participating in "South of the Border" Party, Dressed as Mexican Stereotypes Like Janitors, Gangbangers and Pregnant Women - This story isn't new, but we've been hoping to get an official response from the administration of Santa Clara University where at least five members of the women's volleyball team, at least one member of the men's basketball team and at least one member of the men's golf team, were photographed attending a "south of the border" themed birthday party off-campus earlier this year where students wore costumes portraying Latino stereotypes. Those in attendance came dressed as janitors, female gang members and several young ladies pretended to be pregnant. At first the school expressed outrage over the incident, but so far no official word has come down on whether and punishments were handed out. The issue of free speech is also being debated on campus as students feel that they were just expressing themselves and that since the party was off-campus SCU really has no jurisdiction over theme. The photos from the event came to light after a member of the school's Multicultural Center found them posted on a SCU student's Facebook page. Internet Steroid Raid Update - Jocks who have be linked to the Orlando pharmacy that was raided in a multi-state investigation into the online sale of steroids include: Former Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Jason Grimsley, Los Angeles Angels outfielder Gary Matthews Jr., former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield and former baseball star Jose Canseco. (ESPN)

Judge Tells Madison Square Garden: Turn Over Internal Investigation Notes Related to Sexual Harassment Charges by Former Cheerleader - A judge said that Madison Square Garden must turn over notes and e-mails from an internal investigation it conducted of a former New York Rangers cheerleader who claimed at least one manager was a sexual predator. Courtney Prince, the former captain of the Rangers' cheerleading squad, claims she was fired in January, 2004 after she warned other cheerleaders that at least one member of management was a sexual predator. Prince also claims that MSG demanded that the girls enhance their figures by stuffing their bras. (Chronicle Herald)

UK "Gym Teacher" Claims Topless Photos Found at Online Modeling Agency Were for "Personal Use" - There's usually one question that gets asked anymore in these situations. No, not "What's happened to our society?" or even "What was she thinking?" No, the question most guys ask after reading this story will be: "Where were these teachers when I was in school?" We have no simple answer to that, but we can tell you that former England netball player Louise Crolla was--up until this week--working quietly teaching the game at the Royton and Crompton School in the United Kingdom. That is, until the tabloid News of the World claimed it found pictures of her on a "modeling" website that showed her topless. They published the revealing shots (those UK newspapers have all the fun! - Not Safe For Work Link) which touched off a firestorm at the school. Interesting, at first the headmaster defended Crolla's actions saying that, "Miss Crolla is a capable and fully-qualified teacher. She has passed all the relevant checks teachers have to go through." Well, that stance lasted about a day as parents began to voice their opinion that it was probably NOT a good idea to have a woman with Miss Crolla's, uh, "assets" around impressionable teen boys. Miss Crolla is now insisting that she was not seeking a modeling career and had been `horrified' to see the topless pictures in the newspaper, adding: "I have been totally stitched up by a photographer who took personal pictures and has decided to make some money out of it." According to her, the pictures were taken three or four years ago and were not intended for modeling purposes and has dismissed the News of the World article as "total fabrication". Miss Crolla was reported in the ‘News of the World’ as saying: "I can understand why some people would go ballistic at the idea of a teacher stripping off, but my view is I’m not harming anybody doing it." (Safe for Work link - Oldham Advertiser) Top right, one of the "modeling" photos of Ms. Crolla. (Thanks to Artie Bigley for sending us another great link!)

Youth Hockey Coach From Catholic HS in Chicago Accused of Violent Incident With Cops in Pittsburgh Over . . . Directions to a Strip Club? - Normally, we don't care what coaches do in their free time . . . except if it involves underage girls, online sting operations, or drunken outbursts. This story involves the latter where John "Jack" MacIntosh, 43, a coach for Loyola Academy's varsity hockey team who was arrested last weekend while staying at the Sheraton Hotel in Pittsburgh for a tournament. According to police, MacIntosh and another coach were extremely intoxicated when they approached at officer at the hotel about 2 am Saturday morning and asked him for directions to a strip club. When the officer told him he should go outside and ask a cab driver for directions, MacIntosh reportedly became enraged and began screaming and yelling at the officer. He then--according to cops--threatened to kill the officer, torch his house and--we're not making this up!--sexually assault his children. When a black security guard came to assist in the struggle, MacIntosh also allegedly directed racial taunts at the man. As you might guess that didn't set well with the officers who put a beat down on MacIntosh who ended up spending a day at a local hospital being treated for head injuries. The coach completely disputes the official reports of the incident and instead claims that the officer jumped him from behind, forced him to the ground and slammed his head into the marble floor so hard that he suffered a concussion. And he may have used the racial slur, but only after being slammed to the ground. He's been arrested for assaulting a police officer and making threats against the officer and his family and has been relieved of his duties with the team. (Sun Times)

Yet Another HS Coach Sex Scandal - This time, this one is from my home state of Indiana. Hey, it's not like I know this guy or anything, I'm just saying that Kenton Brown, 33, the assistant girls basketball coach and math teacher at Center Grove High School for about 10 years, conceded under questioning that he had a relationship with an 18-year-old female student, who also played on the basketball team. No criminal charges will be filed because the girl was of age, but he has resigned his job as a result of this revelation. (Indy Star) Thanks to Artie Bigley for the link!

HS Coach Faces 310 Years in Prison for Daily Sex With Underage Girl - According to the victim in this case, she left study hall “basically every day” at school and met North Fond du Lac (Wisconsin) track coach Michael A. Burman, 35 in his classroom, where they had sexual contact behind a locked door. Every day. Burman claims that the two met after she turned 18 and that their relationship never went beyond kissing and hugging. (FDL Reporter) Thanks to Mike H. for the link!

"Sex Cream" Gets Soccer Banned for Three Months - You remember this story, don't you? Milan soccer player Marco Borriello was suspended back in January for a positive test for steroids. But, of course, he had a good excuse: Borriello’s girlfriend model Belen Rodriguez claimed she "accidentally" gave him an STD, and that the cream that the doctor recommended he rub on his man parts contained cortisone. So, duh! he DID use steroids but not for the reason you thought. Doesn't matter. Banned for three months. (IHT.com)

The Steroids of Summer are Back! - You thought MLB had cleaned up its problem with performance enhancing drugs, didn't you? That tough commission headed by former Senator Michaels really put the fear of God into everyone. Everyone except maybe Los Angeles Angels center fielder Gary Matthews Jr., who was mentioned as a possible suspect in a recent raid of an Orlando, Florida pharmacy by Albany County's district attorney. This thing is WAY too complicated for me, but basically it appears that real pharmacy's were servicing as fronts for websites that sold steroids to athletes. Pro athletes. And Matthews is the first one to be named, but more are likely to be fingered. Meanwhile, Mr. Bulky and his lawyers are refusing to cooperate with the committee. Surprise! Pull up a chair, it's going to be a long steroid summer. (Albany Times Union)

Ouch! UK Soccer Player Kicked in the Face, Knocked Cold by Opponent - Teammates thought he was dead but John Terry actually returned to the game after this horrific scene. Watch it for yourself here.

Another Wild Wrestling Match: Brothers Arrested for Jumping Onto Mat, Trying to Help Third Brother Who Was in Headlock - Less than two weeks ago we brought you the story of a father who was caught on tape jumping onto a match involving his 11-year-old son and shoving his boy's tiny opponent off of him, we have yet another wrestling match gone bad. Dain Davis, 20 (pictured right in the black sweat suit), of San Mateo, California was watching his younger brother, Maisson, who wrestles for San Mateo's Hillsdale High, in a match against Los Gatos. Just as the Los Gatos grappler was about to win with a headlock, Dain jumped out of the stands over several stunned fans and officials and onto the match and jumped on top of everyone . . . just like in the WWE. Only in the WWE, that kind of stuff is usually staged (from what we've heard) and the cops don't usually haul you (and another brother) off to jail on charges of misdemeanor battery and entering the court of a professional event. Did we mention it was also all caught on tape? Check out the video at the link. (NBC 11)

Angry Dad Threatens to Shoot Up Church League Basketball Game - They say the Lord works in mysterious ways . . . and that might include pulling a gun on the opposing coach in a church league when your son's team starts losing. It all happened in Memphis over the weekend for a team that plays for the Greater Community Temple. Apparently neither the boy or his father (who went out to his pick-up truck to get the weapon) actually attend the church, he just plays for the team. Speaking like a true woman of God, the Assistant Athletic Coordinator Mildred "What You Want to Go and Do a Fool Thing Like That?" Wimbley said, "From what I know, it was an unfortunate incident." An arrest has not been made yet, but cops think they know who their man is and is just waiting for a positive ID from some witnesses. (WMC-TV) Thanks to Scott for the link!

New HS Coach Sex Scandal - Volunteer girls HS soccer coach accused of having sex with one of his players. (WKYC)

HS Football Coach Punches HS Girls Basketball Game - Kevin Finfrock is the head football coach at Covington High School. His daughter attends Milton-Union and plays for their girls basketball team which had a game recently against Brookville. At some point during the game, the brother of one of the Brookville players must have said or done something to him because Finfrock allegedly punched the guy in the jaw. Yeah, that'll get you kicked out of the game. (Dayton Daily News)

Booze Ads on Kid's Soccer Jerseys Banned in UK - Just like the pros? Not in the United Kingdom! According to a report in the Sunday Mail, a new rule was put in place last week banning alcohol producers from putting their ads on the backs of small children while they play soccer. Apparently the ads are common on jerseys worn by the pros and when the kids play for teams with the same names or from the same towns the uniforms (or kits) are just like the grown-ups . . . right down to the promos for booze such as the Scottish Whisky Association. Kind of makes the sponsorship of Chico's Bail Bonds in the original Bad News Bears pale in comparison now, doesn't it? (Daily Mirror)
