BadJocks Stories From the Week of December 11, 2005 MORE STORIES AFTER THIS WORD FROM OUR SPONSORS "Best $27 I Ever Spent" - Woman claims that the Idiot Proof Diet helped her lose over 50 lbs, got rid of her heart burn, and cleared up problems with her gallbladder. Read her amazing story here.
Canadian HS Soccer Coach Claims He Held Booze Party at His Home After Championship Win to Be a "Responsible Parent" - Okay, here's the logic used by Fred Whoriskey, soccer coach at Sir James Dunn in Nova Scotia: if you find out your underage players are planning to get drunk after winning the provincial championship game, the best thing you can do is invite them to party at your house to keep them from drinking and driving. Whoriskey admits providing alcohol to the boys, but only a "swallow of sparkling wine." It all sounds pretty innocent until the police get involved and they report that at its peak the party had more than 80 students (about half the enrollment at the tiny school) and in the morning more than 200 empty bottles were found on the coach's lawn. His explanation for that much booze? "I did give these kids a mouthful of sparkling wine and I told police that. I'm a truthful person. I'm a scientist and I'm not going to lie about that. But did I provide hundreds of bottles of hard liquor and wine? No, I did not." As you might suspect, because all the boys on the team are under 18 and most of their parents claimed they were not notified in advance of the team party (Whoriskey claims he tried to call all the parents to tell them what he planned to do) there has been quite an uproar in town with many demanding the coach's resignation. Others support and applaud what he did, claiming it may have saved some young lives. Said one parent, "He was trying to be a responsible parent. Kids are going to party whether a parent is there or not. He was trying to keep things under control, and I admire that." (The Star) Thanks to Jeremy Harralson for the link! Football Players Arrested After Bar Brawl, Allegedly Hit Man With Car Then Use Fists to Break His Jaw - Usually there's either brawling or drunkenly running over people with cars, but two football players from Truman State University found away to combine both acts of violence outside a Missouri bar over the weekend. Joshua D. Kilcrease, 21, of Austin, Texas, and Darnell Williams, 21, Chicago, were arrested and charged with first-degree assault after Kilcrease was accused of striking Theodore Tarrant, 40, with his car. This happened about 11 p.m. in the parking lot outside of Woody's Bar, at which point both Kilcrease and Williams were accused of then beating Tarrant, resulting in facial injuries that required surgery to repair his jaw. (KansasCity.com) HS Hockey Players Indicted Over Home Invasion - It sounds like it started over a girl. She was apparently the ex-girlfriend of one of the hockey players at Falmouth High School in Massachusetts and was inside the home of another male student from the school. Several players from Falmouth, including Jacob Graham, 17, Brendan Ferreira, 18, and Jacob Graham, 17, apparently decided that forcing their way into the house and taking the girl back using hockey techniques was the best way to handle things. All three are accused of pushed their way into an East Falmouth home and fighting with a teenager AND his father last month, and all three were indicted by a Barnstable County grand jury on charges of of breaking and entering, trespassing, malicious destruction of property and two counts of assault and battery, all related to the November 18 assault and home break-in. Let's take some and sell the rest here at school!" Hard to imagine any halfway intelligent teenager saying that, but that sounds pretty close to what happened at Green Mountain High School in Colorado where two cheerleaders and a member of the pom squad were arrested and suspended this past week for possessing and selling morphine capsules at school. According to investigators, a freshman girl, who was not a cheerleader or a pom squad member, claimed the capsules belonged to her grandmother who had passed away and she brought them to school to sell to other students so--wait for it--she could by an iPod. More girls got involved in the plan, including the cheerleaders, and at one point one of them loaned another money to buy the drugs. Shortly thereafter, that fool "took the morphine and smoked some pot outside of school and got sick" according to police. (Rocky Mountain News) Dumbass of the Week? Golf Course Manager Fined for Undoing Employee's Bikini Top - You'd think that would be covered in the employee manual, but apparently not at he North Park Clubhouse in Pennsylvania. A judge fined Mitchell Brewer, who manages North Park, $325 for untying a 20-year-old worker's bikini top during a golf outing last August. According to the young lady, who worked at the bar, Brewer tried to force her to reveal her breasts to golfers attending an event at the club. When she refused, he allegedly grabbed her and untied her top. No word if Brewer was kicked in the balls after doing so, but we can only hope. (Pittsburgh Channel) Thanks to Fark.com for the link! HS Football Player Arrested for Allegedly Having Sex on Team Bus - It's the stuff of teen movies: hunky football jock hooks up with hot high school girl in the back of the bus on the way home from a big football game . . . only this time if it actually happened the the jock could be going to jail instead of being crowned prom king! Police in Minnehaha County, South Dakota arrested 18-year old Jonathan Fischer last week and charged him with having sexual contact (none of the reports say exactly what that means) with a minor. According to the cops, about ten weeks ago, on the bus ride home from a football game in Spearfish, the Roosevelt High senior had illegal sexual contact with a girl under the age of 16 . . . below the age of consent in SD. If convicted, Fischer is looking at a maximum sentence of one year in a county jail and a $1,000 fine and would have to register as a sex offender. (Argus Leader) Colorado Football Player and Cross Country
Star Girlfriend Leave School After Allegedly Sending Racist Email - As if
the University of Colorado football program needed any more controversy after
coach Gary "Nothing Happened" Barnett was let go by the school, now
comes word that a football player, upset over the Buffalos loss to Texas and
believing that the recipient was making unwanted advances made toward his
girlfriend, allegedly wrote a typo-ridden email with racist threats . . .
including one to drag the guy behind a car! CU football player Clint O'Neal and
his girlfriend, Jackie Zeigle, both white--received tickets for harassment and
ethnic intimidation tickets after they allegedly sent the threatening message to
CU student-athlete Greg Castro. Both have left the school, but claim it was for
personal reasons having nothing to do with the message. Here's the complete text
(minus expletives) of what was sent. Should the author even be in college? (Denver
Post) Buffalo's Barnett Gone, But Not Forgotten: Anonymous Letter Claims String of Allegations - When the football team was winning, the University of Colorado refused to fire coach Gary Barnett, despite a string of allegations against him and his team including several nasty sexual harassment charges that never went to court. But when the Buffs lost three straight games by a combined score of 130-22 the school's administration decided it had enough and let him go . . . only to have the Rocky Mountain News publish an anonymous letter outlining more than 30 allegations (some new and some old) against Barnett, his program, and the school, including that: Barnett tried to influence testimony in depositions and to the grand jury; Football players were forewarned about random drug tests; Barnett failed to discipline players and said in another instance that everything had been done to protect a player; Questions about the handling of money, particularly from football camps. Most importantly, it makes it sound like the school knew there were problems with the program and failed to act. Anyone at the NCAA reading this today want to comment? (ESPN) #172! Junior High Gym Teacher Admits to "Extra Credit" With Female Student - James E. Solum, 28, a former physical education teacher at Shakopee Junior High School in Minnesota was charged this week in connection with a sexual relationship he allegedly had with a 15-year-old female student. According to police, Solum admitted he had "developed a close personal relationship" with the girl (who on at least two occasions allegedly went to his apartment for sex), and as a result will be charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
